If your laptop is getting too big to carry around with you all day long, guess what? There are now perfecting pocket PC’s for your technological pleasure. These pocket personal computers usually are just slightly bigger than your cell phone, and actually there are some cell phones that can connect to the internet too. Pocket PC’s are powerful mobile tools of communication while away from the office and even for personal uses. While commuting on a train or a plane, you can also be entering data and communicating with your office. (Makes you wonder if you can ever get away!) Often the pocket PC will not come equipped for the exact software that your company needs, but that is no problem. There is much software on the market today designed especially for the pocket PC, that you can quickly download the financial programs, charts or maps, etc. that you need.
Handhelds or PDA’s, as they are sometimes called, are used for everything from storing addresses to writing dissertations and business plans, to email, and they are becoming just as powerful as your home or office computer system. Pocket PC’s have their very own version of Windows and because of the special needs of a hand held PC, such as the smaller screens, there is a whole network geared to meeting your needs for these compact computers. Many distributors have developed, and are continuing to add to their lines of downloads and accessories for the Pocket PC’s. Where technology is going with the internet, and perfecting pocket PC’s, is obviously moving into the mobility of data transfer and communication, and into the smaller and smaller versions and models.
One of the latest and most exciting new additions to the pocket PC is the GPS, or the global positioning system. Just goes to show, that wherever you go on this planet, you can never use the excuse to your boss that you got lost. What will they think of next?
