Ever wondered what wireless broadband is? This article will briefly describe What wireless broadband is? What you can do with wireless broadband, and How you can purchase wirless broadband.

What is Wireless Broadband?

Wireless broadband is the most new improved broadband service available. This service is a way to receive broadband without the need for wires, instead a broadband wireless signal is sent around a local area using a device called a wireless broadband router, which enables other computers within the area to connect to the broadband internet connection.

What Can I Do With Wireless Broadband?

Well, this improved innovation makes it possible for you to set up a wireless broadband connection at home/work which lets you use the internet on your laptop or another desktop computer, without the need to connect them to your main computer using wires. You could take your laptop in other rooms of your house or office, for that extra bit of peace and quiet or privacy. Once you get this facility, you won’t want to change back, it’s useful and convenient.

The other great use for wireless broadband is where you can access the internet at public places such as cafes, restaurants, airports, train stations etc. The way this works is that a business such as a cafe for example broadcasts a broadband signal in its local area, which you can log onto using your. This method of connecting to broadband in public places is known as Wifi. The places with these facilities are known as Wifi hotspots.

How Do I Get Wireless Broadband Access?

To set up wireless broadband in your home, you will need to have a broadband connection already set up, you will need to buy a wireless broadband router which is the device which sends the wireless broadband signal around your home and you will need to buy a wireless network LAN card for your laptop or second computer which receives your broadband signal. Once you have the network set up, you will also have the added advantage that as your computers are networked together, you will be able to send and receive files from one computer to the other, read files off any of the computer hard drives from any computer in the network and print documents directly from any computer in the network. You will have to leave your main computer on for all of this to be possible though. However you don’t need to leave your main computer on to use your broadband wirelessly around your home as the wireless broadband router will still send the broadband signal around your house even when your main computer is switched off.

If you only want to use your laptop in Wifi hotspots when you are out and about then you will only need to buy a wireless LAN card as a broadband router is not required in this case (you will only need a broadband router if you were to use your laptop or computer wirelessly at home). The other thing you will need is an account with a Wifi service provider to give you Wifi access.

Wireless broadband routers and wireless LAN cards can be bought in most offline computer stores or you can buy them online too.
Make the most of your broadband provider and choose the right provider for you.

Several broadband service providers have several packages available and now include Wifi products, such as wireless kits, wireless minutes, LAN cards etc.

In the United States, Bluetooth gets absolutely no respect. It is however, becoming more and more common in notebooks, PDAs, and especially cell phones. Bluetooth will provide wireless users a way to transmit small amounts of data over short distances. I use a Bluetooth headset from Jabra for my Treo 700.

Now, Bluetooth is facing stiff competition from new wireless technology. Referred to as UWB or Ultra Wideband, it promises data transfer of up to 480 MB a second - while most current Bluetooth devices transfer data up to 721 KB a second.

For the time being, Bluetooth devices are surely cropping up. Below, we will look at some of the accessories offered with Bluetooth technology.

Talking to the dashboard

When pairing it with a cell phone, the CCM Blue Warrior car kit becomes a great speaker phone that plugs into the power adapter of your vehicle. The noise cancelling microphone will reduce background noise efficiently, with the large buttons making adjusting the speaker volume a snap. Although the Blue Warrior is far from sexy or sleek, it’s very practical.

Tiny tuning box

Part MP3 player and part hands free phone, the compact and lightweight Sony HBM-30 is an attractive gadget that lets you accept calls with minimal interruption of your tunes. When you get an incoming call it will automatically pause your music, then you speak into the built in microphone that you can wear around your neck or clip to your clothes.

The pen

With Nokia’s SU-1B digital pen, you can doodle and make hand written notes in ink on a special pad then transmit them from the pad to your Bluetooth phone. Being an alternative to typing on a cell phone keypad, the pen is very handy, although a pricey tool from MMS fans.

Snapshots

If you want to make slide shows with your camera photos, the Nokia SU-2 image viewer will let you disply your pictures on a TV or projector. Simply hook this square gray device to your TV’s input with the built in cable, then beam the pictures to the SU-2 from your Bluetooth enabled phone and the photo fest will begin.

This device is a snap to set up and use, although it displays resolutions of up to 640 by 480. If you have a newer phone that takes high resolution photos, you won’t be able to use the Nokia SU-2
Image viewer.

Keep in mind, the 640 by 480 pixel photos will appear blocky on TV screens, no matter what you do. If your phone can send batches of photos, you can create a slide show - although Nokia claims you can use sequentially beamed shots as well.

Even though UWB is on the rise, Bluetooth technology will remain a force in the market for years to come.

Bluetooth Wireless technology has the ability to do a wide range of things. With Bluetooth, you can use a Treo Smartphone for wireless headset calls, connect to the internet with a better connection through your cell phone, connect your computer to the internet through wireless technology, and send messages to others. These things have nothing to do with your GPS system, unless it works through a laptop or PDA.

One of the primary GPS functions with Bluetooth enabled is wireless productivity when you download maps and directions. With Bluetooth, gone are the days of having to connect to the Internet the old-fashioned way (through a computer). You can now browse for the map of your choice and download it directly through your GPS unit. That is just one of the many marvels of Bluetooth technology.

Additionally, some of the Bluetooth-enabled GPS units, such as the Garmin Nuvi 360, have the ability to make phone calls. The GPS unit has a built in speaker and microphone. With Bluetooth technology enabled on the GPS device, the user can make hands free phone calls through the mobile phone service. On the Garmin Nuvi 360, making calls is a piece of cake. All you have to do is touch the Nuvi screen, dial the number, and speak into the microphone. It is as simple as that.

The Nuvi has a phonebook as well as a phone call history storage area. You can use this to dial if you prefer to use a number you have stored in your GPS system. However, there is more to Bluetooth than simply using it to make phone calls and download directions.

Your ability to connect multiple devices to one another has become increasingly simple. Maps from your GPS can be sent easily to your computer, cell phone, palm pilot, and even another GPS system with Bluetooth! When you enter your home, your Bluetooth enabled cell phone emits a signal, which allows your home phone to “sense” your presence. All calls from your cell phone are re-routed to your landline now that you can answer the phone.
One of the fastest growing and most exciting technologies these days is devices that use some sort of wireless network.

One of the fastest growing and most exciting technologies these days is devices that use some sort of wireless network. Wireless networking has allowed almost anyone to use many different devices in a way that not too long ago was unheard of. The most exciting thing about wireless networking is that the development of new technologies is only just beginning.

A new wireless protocol, 802.11N, should be released later this year, which will allow wireless networks to connect over longer distances, and at faster speeds. With this new advancement companies will be able to allow all of their users to connect to the network wirelessly.

This new protocol, coupled with recent advancements in secure connections to wireless networks, will allow businesses to perform tasks wirelessly that they have never been able to do before. Companies utilizing this new protocol will also be able to save quite a bit of money trying to hard wire their offices, by using less wireless routers to do the same task that wired routers did in the past.

Wireless networks have become a very important part of many businesses, because you can construct a wireless network that is separate from your main network that only allows visitors access to the internet and not to any of your precious information. This will also allow you to setup places for visitors to connect to the internet that do not require a desk to be setup or a dedicated computer setup for their access. Instead you can utilize a sitting area and a laptop to achieve the same functionality, without the security risks of someone connecting directly into your network.

Many of the reasons why wireless networks were a faux pas in the past have been addressed and now wireless networks are looked at more and more as a viable alternative to a hard wired network. The best thing about wireless networks is that many new technologies are being released every year that extend the functionality and availability of this fascinating new technology.

The new technologies that are available to construct, and connect to wireless networks is unbelievable. You can connect to a wireless network with a laptop through Wi-Fi, GSM, and even through satellite data cards. Many businesses are creating free hotspots that allow their patrons access to the internet to conduct business, or just send a friend an email.

Many car manufacturers are now offering satellite broadband internet access from within a certain distance of the car, so that people can get an internet connection while they are traveling. Many new types of cell phones and PDAs will allow you to check your email, get your contacts, your calendar, and even access certain web pages right from the phone.

Right now many web pages are not easily viewed, or fully functional on a cell phone or PDA, but many programmers and web designers are working on making their web sites more accessible from all forms of wireless devices.

Many other forms of wireless devices are now being developed that will allow information to be obtained in real-time over great distances. RFID has revolutionized process chain management, because now businesses can track their product from manufacturing to delivery, and everywhere in between. New technologies have been developed recently that allow RFID wireless networks to be formed that can calculate distances between the different devices contained within the network. This will allow a sort of “smart” network to be formed that will allow the devices to “know” when one is on the move, or if one has been lost.

Another very important development in recent years is the use of GPS tracking and navigation. Now we have the ability to know exactly where our products are, and where they are going so we can ensure shipment delivery in a timely manner. When all of these wireless networks are tied together an efficient and productive business can be sure to follow. Wireless networks are a must in this new on-demand world that we live in. If you do not keep up with the times, then you will be quickly left behind.

Image-conscious executives who want to own the latest tech gadgets might put their companies at risk if they try to connect iPhones to corporate networks, warns an analyst

Image-conscious executives who want to own the latest tech gadgets might put their companies at risk if they try to connect iPhones to corporate networks, warns an analyst

To guard against such eventualities, IT departments should begin drafting policies forbidding executives from connecting their Apple iPhones to company networks, said Rob Enderle, a principal analyst with the Enderle Group based in San Jose, Calif.

The device isn’t secure enough, nor is it designed to run with corporate systems, he said.

Companies spend a lot of time getting RIM and Palm handheld devices up to par so they can be secure enough to connect to company e-mail, he said.

Before the iPhone is as secure as the BlackBerry and Treo, it needs a product such as Good Technology Mobile, which is designed to securely deliver enterprise applications to mobile devices. But now that Good Technology has been bought by Motorola, it’s unclear whether it’d be interested in creating a product for Apple’s iPhone, Enderle said.

And even if third-party developers were interested in making applications for the iPhone that would turn it from a consumer toy to a business tool, it’s uncertain whether Apple wants to go that route. The phone is currently a closed platform, which means Apple hasn’t invited independent software vendors to develop applications for its platform.

And because the platform is closed, it’s not clear yet which applications are currently supported by the iPhone.

I think Apple’s going to very tightly control the flow of applications onto this device, said Charles Golvin, principal analyst for Forrester Research in San Francisco. There are certain things that as a business user you need, and it’s not clear if it’s on the device yet. Is there support for Microsoft Office documents such as PowerPoint or Adobe PDF Without those things, it’s usefulness as a business tool would be greatly reduced, but I think Apple recognizes that. I would be greatly surprised if those applications either didn’t come bundled with the phone or quickly found their way onto the phone inexpensively.

Still, Golvin doesn’t think Apple will go directly after the business market.

Those targeting that market, such as RIM, don’t need to start worrying about Apple, said Brian Sharwood of the SeaBoard Group in Toronto. The two companies are going after very different markets and whereas Apple sells a piece of hardware, RIM sells a service, he said.

But because of the iPhone’s attractive form factor, executives are likely to start buying it when it becomes available in June in the U.S., and tech departments need to head them off at the pass by issuing policies that forbid iPhones from being connected to networks, Enderle said.

If executives insist on connecting iPhones, then the IT department has a duty to report the violation since it could mean that Sarbanes-Oxley or other compliance rules have been broken, Enderle said.

But not everyone is as worried about iPhones finding their way onto corporate networks.

The iPhone is secure because it has built-in support for IMAP or Internet Message Access Protocol and POP3 Mail, Golvin said.

Most organizations run Exchange, which has IMAP support, which means the iPhone can automatically receive push e-mail, unlike RIM devices, which need a BlackBerry Enterprise Server to receive e-mail, Golvin said. IT departments, will, however, have to be on the lookout for vulnerabilities for the device, he said.

But, like Enderle, Golvin agrees that iPhones will find their way into the enterprise via executives looking to get their hands on the latest devices. Executives who don’t have limits on what they spend are image-conscious and tend to buy Apple devices, he said. This is how the BlackBerry eventually found its way into the enterprise, he said.

The Toronto Wireless User Group is a member of the Oreilly User Group Program.

Bluetooth was originally designed as an industry standard, for cross communication between devices, the idea was to create a common protocol that could connect all common household devices, like laptops, cellphones, music systems, televisions etc. using a single protocol. One of the biggest applications of Bluetooth is the transformation it has bought about, in the way mobile phones send and receive data with each other. Today there is a plethora of devices that can be linked up to a mobile phone using the Bluetooth protocol.

The first thing you need to know is that there are actually two types of Bluetooth enabled phones in the market, older handsets that support Bluetooth 1.1 or 1.2 based cell phones (the number indicates the version of the Bluetooth technology, so a lower number means an older version of the technology). Newer and more recent mobiles which support Bluetooth 2.0. There are a couple of features that are supported by handsets with Bluetooth 2.0 that are not supported by 1.1, however all features of a 1.1 version will be supported by 2.0 (the technical term for this is backward compatibility).

The objective of this article however is not to be a technical white paper, but to actually mention some of the really useful Bluetooth enabled gadgets that are available for mobile phones today. So without further specifications and details lets get straight to the list

Bluetooth Headsets

The most popular accessory which supports Bluetooth is the Bluetooth headset, almost all Bluetooth enabled phones support the Bluetooth headset, and the newer version of Bluetooth actually has support for the latest in music listening, Bluetooth enabled stereo headsets. The stereo headsets are a direct result of the implementation of the Bluetooth 2.0 technology, all phones that support streaming of audio in Bluetooth stereo will mention that they support stereo headsets or they usually mention that they support A2DP (Advanced Audio distribution profile).

Most high end phones today offer the stereo Bluetooth headsets as an accessory, especially newer Motorola phones have started supporting the A2DP technology, Nokia, Samsung and LG have also followed suit. So if you are a big music fan and love your music, check to see if your phone supports A2DP and go and get your self a stereo Bluetooth headset. Some popular manufacturers of both stereo and normal Bluetooth headsets are Motorola, Nokia, Samsung, Jabra.

Other Bluetooth enabled devices

More and more devices everyday are beginning to support Bluetooth, from speakers that can be linked up to without wires, to digital photo frames that support Bluetooth, there is no limit to the endless possibilities that Bluetooth enabled cell phones can full fill. The most popular Bluetooth device from the above mentioned are the new Bluetooth enabled speakers, using the A2DP technology mentioned earlier, instead of sending audio to a headset you can actually send it straight to a speaker, and listen to the music of your choice without getting special adapters for your mobile phone. Similarly you can display your favourite pictures using a digital photo frame, just send the photos to the digital photo frame and enjoy the crystal clarity and sharpness of the photo frame.

It’s time you know what the latest technological gadget is. In fact, this new toy is buzzing everywhere nowadays. Imagine just how much information these powerful tools store! Cell phones are extremely practical but their downside is that they can only store so much information! For example, most mobile phones come with phone books that store between 100-500 contact entries. Certainly not enough when you’re building a list of personal and professional contacts. Having a PDA cell phone is like carrying around a mini computer in your pocket and the possibilities are surely endless! While it can’t fix your family meals every night or make the kids go to bed, it will keep you and your family extremely organized and in tune with what’s going on day to day!

While a PDA cellular phone is used primarily for professional use, take advantage of the many fun features it has to offer. If you ever wanted to own an MP3 player, there’s no need to buy one on its own! Some PDA mobiles come with a Windows Media Player device to keep you occupied with your favourite tunes during the day! If you’re travelling and are looking to maximize your time, surf the Internet. Even better, catch up on your emails! It’s like taking your office on the road, wherever you go, whenever you go!

If you’re worried about using your PDA too much – don’t! Many PDA cell phones will give you somewhere along the lines of 250 minutes of talk time and 240 hours of standby time. Keeping spare chargers and a base charger is always convenient to ensure that you’ll never go without your phone when you need it the most! You’ll enjoy typical features, such as a speakerphone, vibrating ringers, text capability, and Internet options. Connect using Outlook, and you’ll never have to search for a phone number or email address again! Store it once and forget about it!

For those individuals who are constantly travelling and on the road or in the sky, a PDA mobile phone makes sense. It’s the perfect gift and travel companion! Sometimes, it can be difficult to take a break from your day to find an Internet café or office that will allow you to connect and check your email and important messages. Now, imagine being able to access your information from anywhere in the world! You could be having dinner, in a car, or in between meetings, and you’ll never miss those important messages ever again! It’s important to note, your PDA cell phone contains the Internet, which will allow you to surf the web. So, now you can book your hotel reservations, find a phone number for a taxi, look for a restaurant in your area – it’s all possible without having to exhaust other options! Sync your phone with your laptop, and access your work, no matter where you are. Access flight information with the touch of a button! Get movie listings and find out where some of the best attractions are when you’re visiting a new town. It’s obvious that owning a PDA cell phone has its advantages. Remember, PDA phones are extremely lightweight and portable. So much power for such a tiny device – and to think, many phones will give you the option to add more memory if you need it, for additional storage!

It’s also good to know that many companies will also throw in extra accessories, such as a headset, leather case, belt clip or hand strap. These always come in handy to protect and maintain the look of your equipment. They’re also very suitable when on the road. Having a headset allows you to use your phone while on the road keeping you safe as you drive with both hands on the wheel! If you’re going to use your phone on the road while driving, at least be safe! Be conscious of yourself and the other drivers around you! It doesn’t stop there! You can upgrade to a Bluetooth headset, or consider buying an extra adapter, charger, or magnet mount antenna set. You could also consider getting a starter kit that comes with the essentials to make the most out of your PDA cellular phone.

One thing is for sure. The rave about PDA cell phones is sweeping the nation. Stop and think for a moment. Many people carry around more than one of the following - a cell phone, an agenda or journal, a PDA system, a camera, an MP3 player. Well, all you need is the PDA mobile! It will replace all of these rather expensive items and provide for its consumers the convenience of owning the best all-in-one device to ever hit the market!

Hacking the mind and body by PDA wireless devices Why We Need Complex Firewalls in Blue Force tracking and Mobile Devices in Business, Government & Wartime.

First I would like to stress I am condoning the art of hacking. Nor am I condoning the control and manipulation of the human race by way of frequencies interacting with the biological systems, which run the human body. We all know that the brain runs on chemicals and waves. We know from medicines, vitamins, alcohol, drugs and food intake that we can alter those chemicals. And most of us understand that brain waves are about allow for the process of cognition. The computers we use also run on frequencies which are use to hearing about for instance Pentium Chips running 1.2 GigaHertz. Cell phones run 800 MHz approximately. Also the power supply in a computer runs on a certain cycle creating another set of waves.

The brain waves run at 5Hz to 50Hz range generally depending on the content of things like caffeine. And the nerves and body signals also have ranges, here is some interesting information on that:

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.f…2&dopt=Abstract

Now then if we take quartz crystals and put them in PDA devices, we could communicate to the bodies own system through the 8.0 KHz range:

http://www.cmac.com/mt/databook/crystals/smd/cx1_2.html

You can also put a thought into someone’s mind through the waves and frequencies at this level with a little fine-tuning. Meaning you could communicate without speech. And this has uses in Space travel, Under Water Exploration and even in special teams, which need quietness to fulfill mission.

http://www.phoneinbuddy.com/TB_compression.htm

Now when someone is carrying a personal electronic device there are ways to get to these frequencies. One way is to find the difference between the two components of the device, for instance the motherboard and the CPU, and get that device to one of the numbers near or around 5-50 Hz or 8 KHz. This can be done by sending information or energy to the device from somewhere else. This can be done by first pinpointing the device by GPS or other line of sight means and then sending pulses to the device, which will boost or lower the devices output or by sending a signal to the device under normal conditions that the device uses to operate. Microwave, Terabeam, Sound, laser, etc. may all be used for such. Now then once you spike one of the components of the device close to the other components range and get the difference within the range of the human bodily functions frequencies you can then introduce the desired result. For instance put the person to sleep slowly by lowering the difference between the waves of the device. You could increase it causing anxiety and possible even introduce information into the brain. For instance, you could contact the brain and auditory function and say “Run” or “This is Allah, killing Americans is wrong, put down your weapon and return to your family and be a good father and knock it off.”

We already know that wireless devices can be easily hacked into as we have been reading. For instance the new WiFi freedom also has associated flaws and potential risks. You might want to Google these companies also on the subject: Airdefense, Atheros, LXE, and Airmagnet.

HIPPA issues medical data could be at risk without scrutiny since Hospitals and First Responders must rely on mobile devices to help save lives and remain efficient in those times of critical need. The medical industry is certainly discussing the HIPPA issues with wireless mobility. How can they have the information rapidly available and also maintain complete privacy when the information goes over the airwaves?

As speed increases and add ons occur security issues need to be continually reviewed and upgraded procedures. Blackberry is concerned and diligently working on the problems. Other Wireless Security Issues Include some below and this is just the beginning really, after all we cannot even get rid of SPAM.

While tapping information from normal citizens you can see the problems. Then the people in the know will export the hacking technology and then the same companies working in defense will have these people employed there, then those people will teach others who are our potential enemies and then we are in trouble.

As this technology becomes more advanced it is quite possible to read people’s minds, enter thoughts into their heads, put them to sleep, increase heart rates to non-possible levels, cause anxiety or disrupt nerve impulses and mobility. All by using their on board PDA, Cell Phone or other electronic device. It is even possible now to send information this way using the skull and jawbone as an antenna and the vibrations are picked up by the inner ear.

The PDA wireless device or cell phone is merely an amplifier and since it has it’s own power source maybe used in such a way as these companies are discovering and consumers seem to be happy to use. By reducing the amount of energy in the device itself batteries will last longer since lower volumes will be needed. The energy could come from the sender entirely, therefore batteries draining are no longer an issue. If people have RFID implants they could hook themselves up to a machine at night running on 8Hz which could super charge their immune system along with a once per week tablet of super vitamin C with is said to be 100 times more potent than the Vitamin C Fred Flintstone Chewables our kids take. Having a pace making device to steady one’s system while performing extraordinary tasks could be good for adrenaline burn on nerves, NASCAR drivers, Apache Attack Helicopter Pilots, Astronauts, etc. by stabilizing the body and allowing the mind to focus on the event in a clear headed way.

If an enemy set of troops has implanted RFID tags we could stimulate the bodily functions by way of external impulse waves and help them change their minds to fight. Therefore Blue and Red Force tracking issues would be in our favor even if they had identical systems which were bought by pirated software from the DOD by a rogue nation. We could disable and over power implanted devices and therefore they would show up as another color, the enemy would see it’s “Blue-friendly” turn to “Red Bad-guy” and thus not know who is who and kill their own men or be so confused that they stopped giving orders of what to shoot at and in the confusion and hesitation you have the time on your side and all options meaning, a decisive victory is in sort order of said battle.

It may appear to be rather a difficult task to take control of a body, but really it is not since the body is merely an organic robot and it works on a set of principles. You only have to change those few things. When we recently discussed the use of Long-range wireless tasers for crowd control we could see what we are technologically advancing in this regard. We know that we can stop human armies by way of bullets, explosion, harmonics, microwaves. We can blind them, nuke them, sterilize them and even make them fall down and cry.

But using this methodology of using portable devices on that person, we could essentially control them by phone lines half way around the world. Once access is giving or even overwhelmed by electronic power you would have control of that person’s thoughts, central nervous system and heart rate. An interesting concept in that a doctor could have a patient on the phone and stabilize their blood pressure, heart rate or even put in settings for super healing while they sleep. Or in the case of conflict you could bring an army to it’s knees and completely immobilize it, put the rank and file into deep sleep, end the natural lives of those participating trying to kill you or make them think twice about what they were doing. This is not science fiction we are nearly here, we need to stay “Heads UP” on these issues.
